Grade Overview:
Grade 1 marks the formal beginning of the CBSE curriculum at SNS Academy. Students transition from kindergarten to structured academic learning while continuing to benefit from the school’s Design Thinking framework. The focus is on building strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy while nurturing curiosity, creativity, and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
What Students Will Learn
English Language: Reading comprehension, phonics for decoding words, basic sentence writing, vocabulary building through stories and poems.
Mathematical Thinking: Numbers up to 100, addition and subtraction with understanding, shapes and patterns, introduction to measurement concepts.
Environmental Science: Understanding my family, plants and animals around us, food and water, our body and its needs.
Art and Creativity: Drawing and coloring with purpose, clay modeling, simple craft projects expressing ideas.
Physical Development: Basic exercises, organized games, introduction to yoga for body awareness and focus.
Subjects Offered

Teaching Methodology

Design Thinking Integration: Students are introduced to the complete Design Thinking cycle through age-appropriate challenges that involve empathy, definition, ideation, and prototyping.
Collaborative Learning: Pair and small group work is encouraged to build communication and teamwork skills.
Formative Assessment: Continuous observation and feedback help teachers identify learning needs and adjust instruction accordingly.
Curriculum Highlights
Foundational Skills Focus: Strong emphasis on building reading fluency, writing skills, and number sense through systematic instruction and practice.
Design Thinking Projects: Students complete at least one design thinking project per term, applying the methodology to real classroom or school problems.
SNS iHub Introduction: Basic coding concepts introduced through visual programming platforms designed for young learners.
SPINE Center Integration: Regular access to swimming, music studio, dance studio, and indoor sports facilities.
3P Culture Development: Students understand their purpose in learning activities, follow processes, and learn to work effectively with others.
Co-Curricular Activities
Little Champs: Basic athletics and games that build fundamental movement skills.
Creative Arts: Drawing and painting club for artistic expression.
Rhythms: Introduction to vocal music and rhythm instruments.
Library Time: Weekly visits to the school library for story reading and book borrowing.
Nature Club: Simple nature walks and observation activities.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Requirement: Children must be 6 years old by the 31st of March in the academic year for which admission is sought.
